Happy Love Month, family!
As I’m sure you guessed, we are definitely talking about love this week, a real special type of love; self love.
This blog is dedicated to exploring and deepening that crucial, personal connection with ourselves—one we often set aside in the hustle of everyday life.
Think about it: many of us know exactly how to show love to others. We know to send flowers, share kind words, or lend a helping hand. We see repeated examples daily of how to express our affection outwardly. And while that’s important, we can sometimes forget to direct that same level of care inward—to the person looking back at us in the mirror.
Self-love is more than just a buzzword; it is an ever-evolving journey. One that requires us to look deeply at our own needs, acknowledge our worth, and celebrate our personal wins. In a world that sometimes moves too fast, taking a moment to practice intentional self-compassion can be a radical, beautiful act.
And so, in honor of the month that celebrates love in all its forms—and in recognition of the ongoing and powerful legacy of Black History Month—we’ve chosen to write a love letter to the most important person in your life: YOU .
Dear Self,
I’m so proud of you. The way you show up every day and continue to move forward is so honorable. I love you for that. You are facing life head-on: tackling those very hard things you once thought you could never do, pressing through challenges you once thought you couldn’t survive. But guess what? You did. Those obstacles are now in the past, and you’ve kept growing.
You have evolved so much over the years, and yet you continue to unfold like a well-nurtured flower—blooming at every turn. One of the greatest gifts you will ever give yourself is permission to keep growing. Just like those who came before us—who showed us the power of persistence even when the world wasn’t always fair—your transformation will continue to pave your unique path forward. The person you were five years ago would be so proud of how far you’ve come, and I bet they’d be cheering you on right now.
You are so special. There isn’t a single soul on this earth exactly like you. Isn’t that mind-blowing?! Every laugh, every tear, every twist and turn in your story has shaped this incredible person you are today. Nothing is wasted—every piece of your history holds meaning. Even the hard times, the ones that felt impossible, were preparing you for the blessings life is now unfolding before you. Sometimes life doesn’t feel fair, but even in those moments, you’ve found a way to keep going. You’ve shown resilience. And I love when you let your optimism, drive, and motivation shine through—it reminds me of how strong you really are.
I also love when you decide to rest, reflect, and stay in bed all day if that’s what your soul needs. We all deserve those moments of stillness, because listening to our bodies and minds is a vital part of honoring the sacredness of who we are. Rest is resistance. Rest is renewal. Rest is a form of radical self-care and an act of love, echoed by generations before us who fought for the space to simply breathe and just be.
Wow, Self! I’ve never really taken the time to truly thank you for all that you do, all that you are, and all that you represent. You show up and show out more often than I give you credit for. What would life be without your unwavering love and determination? Today, and every day, I promise to honor, value, and appreciate you because we absolutely deserve it.
I will be here for you—always.
Yours Truly,
Me.
Do you cherish yourself?
What boundaries reflect your self-respect and honor?
Does elevating and loving yourself feel difficult?
How do you honor and express love to yourself daily?
Envision your future self and write a love note celebrating all you have accomplished.
I hope and pray this exercise fills your heart space in all the areas that needed to be filled. I hope it stretches you into deeper self-love and that it holds you where being held is necessary.
Drop us a note and share with us how this felt for you. We love you, and Happy Black History Month! ❤️
Always,
Kianna S.
